This chair project was presented to me during my sophomore year. We were told to solve a problem by redesigning a chair to fit the problems needs. I decided to tackle the needs of guitarist and how uncomfortable a chair can be when you have a guitar sitting in your lap. I wanted the chair to have the ability of fitting the guitar as well as performing the way the a chair with a full armrest would. I had gone through a few different concepts and had decided on my final model which allowed a person to sit all the way back into the chair while holding a guitar and had the ability to allow your arms to rest as if you were in an arm rest chair. I was happy with the design and I believe that the design could be made into a reality.
